Today it became clear that Donald Trump has won the election and will be the new US President. Nothing good will come from this although I must admit I wagered on him winning so there is that. I backed the average American’s lack of common sense and won.
How people can trust and vote for this man defies any logic. He is so obviously a narcissist that it is a huge gamble to vote for him. The American people didn’t have much in the way of choice. If I had to choose between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton I probably wouldn’t have bothered voting. However, if I did make the effort, common sense would have told me to vote for experience over narcissism. What traits do a narcissist possess? Let’s take a look:
- Grandiose sense of self-importance
- Lives in a fantasy world that supports their delusions of grandeur
- Needs constant praise and admiration
- Sense of entitlement
- Exploits others without guilt or shame
- Frequently demeans, intimidates, bullies, or belittles others
Based on this and on what we observed during his campaigning we can make some predictions about his presidency.
If he can’t get a law passed in Congress he will issue an Executive Order. He will not be bothered about the legal side and many of his Executive Orders will face court challenges.
Foreign countries will have to give in to his demands or he will blackmail them. Imports and exports will be the obvious target but travel restrictions and change to visa requirements are other tools at his disposal.
As a narcissist he lacks empathy. Don’t expect anything that will improve the lives of people. If it does happen it will be an unintended consequence of an action that was taken for Trump’s benefit. Foreigners, immigrants, non-whites and the poor will have a hard time under Trump’s presidency.
The bullying and intimidating of individuals will continue as it did during Trump’s election campaign. Why will he stop? His followers lapped it up and applauded it. Also expect him to try and bully foreign powers and world bodies.
A lying narcissist racist president for, at least, the next four years. Good luck America, although you may need a lot more than luck. Chances are that you’ll be the laughing stock of the world and no longer the leader of the free world when he’s done.
